On The Other Hand
All I can say is Thankyou Steve Anderson. After years of having to flip all the images and reverse all the words, Steves book presents a wonderfully, clear picture of the golf swing. Two of my friends who are right handed also got the book and have improved dramatically. My only complaint is that they're playing better than me now and are winning all the bets!

Fabulous Book
Having read many golf books I feel qualified to comment. Steve's book breaks the full swing and short game down into manageable and understandable pieces. The pictures in the book make the instruction more understandable. My scores have definitely improved by implementing the instruction techniques contained in On the Other Hand.

Instructions that work!
"On The Other Hand" is a fantastic instructional manual that has helped improve my game (better than my more expensive clubs!). It seems like Steve's fundamentals are missing from many other sources of golf instruction. I am glad he decided to put them in print for everyone to read. The book is filled with effective instructions, real life adventures, and easy to follow photos (whether you are left or right handed). I am not an expert, but I think this golf book is going to be "HOT!!!"

Really Helpful!
12-Step Programs was really helpful to me in evaluating myself as well as friends and families. I know some people that have problems that are in this book and think it would be very helpful. Some people feel embarrassed to talk with someone or have no idea how to get help for there addictions. This book changes all of that!

A helping hand for people searching for hope & understanding
AS A PROFESSIONAL IN THE SOCIAL SERVICES FIELD, I FOUND THE BOOK AN INVALUABLE GUIDE FOR THE CLIENTS THAT I SERVE. THE BOOK IS ALSO A RESOURCEFUL AND INFORMATIVE TOOL WHICH WILL ENHANCE MY SKILLS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR PEOPLE IN OUT OF THE FIELD BECAUSE IT PROVIDES A HELPING HAND FOR PEOPLE SEARCHING FOR HOPE AND UNDERSTANDING.

I highly recommend that it be read.
As a professional with over 35 years experience in the fields of corrections and substance abuse, I didn't realize how limited my knowledge of the various aspects of 12-step programs was until I read this book . I thank God for blessing me with the opportunity and the curiosity to read this book and highly recommend that it be read by anyone in the field! I feel that Ms. Anderson had three goals in mind--information, enlightenment, and resourcefulness.

Basic Watercolor Answer Book

Set free of worry
I wanted you to know that I find your book the most encouraging and helpful of all the books I have seen. Your philosophy on just going for it and not worrying about any rules is the best.

An inspirational book!
Catherine Anderson sets out in this book to inspire you from page one! She herself is an incerdible artist, but the book brings to light that she is an incredible person and teacher too.

Simply the Best Watercolor Painting Book Out There!
Big Kudos to Catherine Anderson! I have painted for over 20 years and specialize in watercolors. And I have never seen an art instruction book like this one - it's pure inspiration and encouragement from start to finish (and it's the kind of book one never really stops reading...each time I pick it up, I come away with new insight and lessons learned.) I simply devoured this book cover to cover! I originally bought it to fill in gaps in basic knowledge I was missing but wound up gaining so much more! I learned things like you don't have to "get it right" the first time...like it's ok to put on glaze after glaze and scrub out what you've done...and that there are no rules but one - to do what works for you! Catherine Anderson's work is truly a gift to the spirit - she fills your head to overflowing with positive, inspiring messages from the heart such as to never ever quit, here's how to get jump-started painting (great for days you just don't have the energy!), how not to listen to the negative voices within, to just believe in yourself, and above all, to have fun and just paint! Her greatest legacy will be her ability and enthusiasm. Our world needs more positive teaching books like this one. The format is question and answer and very friendly to the eye. Her inspirational words remind me that we were put on this earth to help others and to make a difference! And her book is for all levels of watercolorists - beginning, intermediate and advanced! The best painters are truly those who keep practicing the fundamentals - so true of anything in life! I was surprised in reading it how much I'd somehow forgotten or never got quite right over the years! And she does a wonderful job of taking the fundamentals and carrying them to more advanced levels. Her book nudges you along to find your own style, your own you, rather than to copy her style. But the best part of this book, is that you will find you use it - over and over and over again! I actually carry mine in my briefcase and never tire of re-reading it! and this is because her message is one for the mind, the head, and the spirit in all of us! Working with her book is a celebration of life - Catherine Anderson brings out the best part of each of us in her book! I have a mountain of art books, and there is no other like her's out there! And everyone I know that has bought her book says the same - your painting skills get better and better the more you work with her book, and the fun just doesn't stop! Makes me want to go and paint right now! in fact, I think I will! haha Anderson's book is a triple-crown winner!

Cajun-Creole Cooking
Published in Paperback by Shearer Pub (September, 2003)
Author: Terry New Cajun-Creole c Thompson-Anderson

Simply: The Best Book on Cajun-Creole, period.
My girlfriend gave me this book when we started dating. It was the first cookbook I ever owned, I had no idea what a gem it was. Since then my mother gave me all her Cajun-Creole books (about 25 in all), books signed by Emeril and Paul Prudhomme, none compare, this is without a doubt my favorite.

Everyone lays claim to 'authentic' Cajun-Creole recipes, recipes need to have this ingredient or that or else they're not Cajun-Creole. If there were such a standard (there isn't), then this book would have to serve as the measure.

My wife often suggests that giving me this book helped convince me to marry her ;-)

The bread recipe is worth every penny!
This is a wonderful book, filled with tasty, authentic recipes and history. The New Orleans French Loaves are the easiest, tastiest bread I've ever made. This book is a treasure.

Simply a superb book!
No other Cajun recipe book compares to this one. I wanted Grandma's recipes, and now I have 'em! The Jambalaya and Fricassee recipe's are famous at my house.

Cat Lovers and Children of Divorced Parents...
This simple, yet intricate tale of a cat named Charlie and Anderson can help children of divorced parents relate to life. In it a cat has two homes, two set of owners and one big family that loves him a lot. He doesn't mind having to visit between them and he gets different kinds of love shown him at each house. So it makes him extra special. The two little girls who discover their cat actually has another home he visits during the day, slowly realize that although their parents live in separate houses still love them the same as if they did live together. It's straight forward approach and fuzzy, cuddly cat makes this book a unique approach to talking to your children about divorce. I recommend it highly being a divorced parent of a cat lover.

Great book for children/great family story
Two families that live on opposite sides of the woods think they "own" a cat. One calls him Charlie, one calls him Anderson. Just like the two sisters that live on one side of the woods, Charlie has two homes where he is loved very much. This is a great way to explain that just because two households are very different the love can be just as strong in both.

charlie's my boyfriend
I work ( volunteer)at a library and O stumbled upon this book and my boyfriends name is Charlie Anderson so I read it! I thought it was soo cute!!! I recommend this book to every one named Charlie Anderson and other people too!

Food of Portugal
Published in Paperback by William Morrow (June, 1994)
Author: Jean Anderson
Average review score:

The best Portuguese Cookbook I have found so far.
I was born in Portugal and came to the United States at the age of 6. Being able to speak and write the language fluently is something that I am very grateful to my parents for. However my one fault is the inability to convert the European to American measurements. Well my mother has a wonderful cookbook on traditional Portuguese cuisine but it is all in Portuguese. Therefor I decided to use the WEB to find a Portuguese cookbook with the recipes in English to avoid the conversion issue. Well, I found "Food Of Portugal" and figured why not order it and see. After all if I didn't like I would and could return it. That was months ago. I love this cookbook. It is the best Portuguese cookbook, with recipes in English, I have found so far. It has all of the traditinal dishes which I grew up eating and many more. I would recommend this book to anyone Portuguese or not. My sincere congratulations to the author for a job very well done.

Enthusiastic and extremely well-written
Jean Anderson has a love affair with Portugal and the Portuguese, and this has translated into an extremely well researched and written book about a relatively unknown cuisine and culture. She not only provides clear, concise recipes, but even better, she explains the history of the cuisine, wine and culture of the country as well. This book would also be useful for the prospective visitor to Portugal, since Ms. Anderson intersperses her discussions with lodging and travel tips based on years of travel to the country.

a genuine tribute to Portugal
My Luso-Americano husband bought me this cookbook when I expressed my desire to try to learn to cook Portuguese food for him like his mother and grandmother did. I pulled off a few good meals and loved reading about the country and the Portuguese way of life. A few years later we moved to Portugal to work there, and I found out for myself just how delicious virtually every dish really is! Jean Anderson's book became even more helpful to me, as I was able to translate the ingredients I was buying, understand the reason for combining certain flavors, and taste the original inspirations for Jean's choices. Portugal is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and its people (and cuisine) are friendly and accessible -- I wish everyone who wants to experience a truly unique culture would visit. It is NOT Spain or a poor imitation of Spain, and does not deserve to be lumped into all of those travelogues as if it were. We lived there for 4 1/2 years and I can tell you that Jean Anderson's recipes will give you as close a taste to being there as is possible! (Jean, if you're out there I'd love to compare notes some day -- please write to me!)

The Flight of Dragons
Published in Paperback by Overlook Press (01 April, 1998)
Authors: Wayne Anderson and Peter Dickinson
Average review score:

The book and the movie are DIFFERENT.
Okay, let's set the record straight here. "The Flight Of Dragons" _has no plot_. Some of these reviews are referring to the wonderful characters, amazing plot line, etc. Obviously, these people haven't read the book. This book is a scientific view on how dragons could have actually existed. It gives theories on how they breathed fire, flew, lived, etc., drawing on evidence from story lore and legend. Now, for those of you who are thinking of the _movie_ "The Flight Of Dragons", yes, the movie was based on this book. But it was only based on it in terms of how the dragons were designed. The (very) basic plot and the wonderful characters were taken from Gordon R. Dickson's amazing book "The Dragon And The George". But the book "The Flight Of Dragons" is much different from the movie. For one thing, Peter Dickenson views dragons as lethargic beasts with a dull intelligence. He included a chapter on dragon-slaying, which, to me, was something of the last straw. Also, some of the pictures done by Wayne Anderson are horrific. I especially "enjoyed" the photos in the back of art from around the world----one had a picture of a troll-like "dragon" eating a man's head! . . . Now, don't get me wrong. This is a good book. Some of the pictures are fantastic. And most of Peter Dickenson's theories----especially the one about why there are no fossils of dragons------were really neat. And I love his saying: "Remember. The dragons live. Inside us." It's a decent book. But I spent nearly a year trying desperately to get my hands on a copy, and while it is interesting and a valuable addition to my collection of dragon lore, I was disappointed. But maybe I shouldn't judge something on my own expectations (obviously). But I did want all to understand . . . the book and movie are very different. If you want to re-meet the characters of "The Flight Of Dragons" from the movie, read "The Dragon And The George", an excellent book. And give the book "The Flight Of Dragons" a try. Just don't set your expectations too high!

Beautiful and Captivating
This book breathes new life into the world of fantasy. It is a compelling read, but backed with scientific evidence and explanation to make it credible. Also, it is a beautiful book with lots of full-color pictures and illustrations. Whether you believe in dragons or not, The Flight of Dragons is interesting and a wonderful conversation-piece. The book deserves more recognition than it has gotten in the U.S., and I consider myself extremely lucky for having found it in a second-hand bookstore and picking it up there. I had never heard of it before, and have never seen another copy, but I haven't been disappointed. And, by the way, I am NOT interested in selling mine!

Bravo to Dickinson for giving dragons a fighting chance!
This is a book for all of you out there who know that dragons are more than just fairytale creations to frighten small children. And for those of you who ARE convinced that dragons belong purely to fantasy, I invite you to come, read, and have your mind changed by this beautiful, engagingly written book. (It's science-friendly, too!) Peter Dickinson does a wonderful job of building up a theory by which dragons could once have truly roamed the skies and terrorized innocent villagers. His ideas are sound, his message clear, and through it all he maintains a tone which keeps the reader asking for more.

Soon To Be A Major Motion Picture
Published in Audio Cassette by Fluid Words (01 February, 2001)
Authors: Warren Dunford and Mitchell Anderson
Average review score:

Can't Wait For The Movie To Come Out!
Okay, so call me paranoid, but I'm convinced Warren Dunford has been spying on me. The characters are so real, and so much like myself and people I know, that I swear I've met them all before. Our Ingrid is a boy, however, and our Ramir is a girl, but otherwise, same angst. The scene with Mitch's parents is eerie.
Soon To Be A Major Motion Picture is the most entertaining, compulsively page-turning, addictive book I've read in years. I haven't laughed out loud on the subway this hard since Douglas Adams. I started reading Making A Killing immediately after finishing this one, and already it's proved to be just as witty, just as engrossing and just as real as the first one.
I enjoyed the screenplay format portions immensely. I hope the hint is taken in Hollywood North and this book is made into a film, because I MUST see it!

Awesome!
Early on in the book, the author describes a character as "nondescript" and I thought "oh, no. This will be bad." but no! This book is tremendously well-written. I think I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to gay humor fiction, so it's great to find something to recommend whole-heartedly. Similar to Misadventures in the 213, Soon to Be.. has a little triumvirate of lovable characters (though Mitchell's friend Ramir can be less than lovable) that are drawn very well. Even minor characters such as the unnerving and condescending Kitina is spot on and Dunford's Carmen Denver strikes me as a Hollywood tyrant completely encapsulated.

The reader will probably figure out what's really going on before Mitchell does, but that's okay because there are still a few surprises. Mitchell's other friend Ingrid is very lovable and shy. The reader really roots for her triumph in the Toronto artworld and her subsequent stresses caused by her fame are very touching and affecting.

People who liked this book would also enjoy the aforementioned Misadventures in the 213 and Christian McLaughlin's book. I can't wait to read the next Warren Dunford.

A terrific surprise.
I picked up this book by first-time Canadian novelist Warren Dunford with uncertainty. The jacket sounded really fascinating (a sometimes sure sign that what's inside isn't). I must tell you that this is a warm, funny, surprising, and satisfying read. I usually take my time with books but read this one in one day. The diverse cast of characters Dunford has created will keep you turning the pages. The main character, Mitchell, is very human, very real yet finds himself in some outlandish situations including juggling his job as... writer, budding screenwriter, exasperated friend, and amateur sleuth. I loved the diary-style writing as a peek into this Toronto twenty-something's extraordinary life. It's a fast, easy, FUN read.

Homeless
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (March, 1901)
Author: Laurie Halse Anderson
Average review score:

better than the first
When Sunita finds a group of cats in a neighbborhood, she becomes determined to domesticate them, despite warnings that these cats are not domestic cats but feral cats--cats that have been allowed to grow wild and of which have come into contact with very few humans. Sunita convinces Dr. Mac of the Wild at Heart Clinic to take the cats to fix them, give them shots, and check them for illnesses, since the alternative is that the Animal Control people come and take them and euthanize them. But Sunita learns, finally that you can't domesticate a feral cat after she gets bitten and has to undergo rabies shots herself. But trouble comes when her plan to send the treated cats back to the wild backfires. The nieghbors don't want the cats at all--even if they have been treated so they cannot breed or carry rabies. Was Sunita's plan in vain? Another good book in the Wild At Heart series. I thought that this one was better than the first one.

Homeless
I think this was one out of the series that was one of the most exciting books. It's about Maggie's friend, Sunita Patel. Sunita loves cats. She works as a vet volunteer at Dr. Mac's clinic. One day Sunita and her friends are walking home from school and they come across an open field with a ton of cats walking around. One of the cats are feral and hurt. They take him to Dr. Mac. The only trouble is, the two kids that were feeding the cats before Sunita got here is that their mother is raving mad about the kids being around feral cats. Sunita must persuade the kids mom that not all cats are bad. Will Sunita change her mind after she is bitten by one? Find out in Homeless.

the best book
this is the best book i ever read, even though it has the part about the icky racoon!
